The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) with the support of the Australian High Commission and partners Australian Education International and Perth Education City will stage “Australia Future Unlimited: Education Exhibition 2013” in Colombo on Saturday, 23rd and Sunday, 24th February 2013 from 10.30 am till 6.00 pm at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Crystal Ballroom Lower.
Twenty seven Australian education providers consisting of universities, Technical and Further Education institutes and colleges will engage directly with Sri Lankan students wishing to explore further education in Australia.

Australian High Commissioner Robyn Mudie, speaking about the event said "Australia and Sri Lanka have shared an extensive bilateral relationship over many decades. Our close ties are based on a history of partnership in areas such as education, trade and investment and development cooperation, and further strengthened through people to people links and migration. Education builds strong and lasting links between our countries. The Australian government is committed to the continued expansion of this valuable element of our relationship".

Austrade Trade Commissioner, Dr Grayson Perry, noted that Austrade was proud to partner with Australian institutions to give prospective Sri Lankan students and their families an opportunity to look closely at education possibilities and options in Australia. He further noted this initiative aims to grow the educational partnership between Australia and Sri Lanka, as well as help support skills development for the Sri Lankan economy and society.

Sonya Boylan from Australia’s Department of Immigration noted the importance of education in society, with both Australia and Sri Lanka benefitting from international education experiences. The number of Sri Lankans choosing to pursue further education in Australia is on the rise, with Sri Lankan amongst the top ten countries for international students who choose to undertake higher degrees in research in Australia.
