Peter Kuruvita masterclass with premium Australian produce

On 3 May, the Australian High Commission organised a Master Class by award-winning Australian chef, restaurateur and media personality Peter Kuruvita in collaboration with the Chefs Guild of Sri Lanka and the William Angliss Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management.

The Master Class formed part of Peter Kuruvita’s visit to Sri Lanka to promote premium Australian food and wine. The event was an opportunity for Peter Kuruvita to introduce the best of Australia's world renowned fine, fresh gourmet produce to the hospitality trade.

The Master Class brought some of Sri Lanka’s best chefs together with aspiring students of the hospitality trade. The participants tried their hand at cooking some of Peter Kuruvita's unique recipes inspired by the creative, sophisticated and diverse nature of Australian culture.

The Australian High Commissioner, HE Robyn Mudie, said "We are delighted to work with Peter Kuruvita to highlight Australia’s premium high quality produce and world-class wines. We are particularly pleased to be able to showcase this through Peter Kuruvita, who personifies the strong bonds between Australia and Sri Lanka."

As the centrepiece of his visit, Peter Kuruvita designed the menu for a dinner hosted by the Australian High Commissioner celebrating premium Australian food and wine. Mr Kuruvita also collaborated with the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel on a gourmet dinner open to the public on 3 May.

Peter Kuruvita began his love affair with food and passion for cooking in the traditional kitchen of his ancestral home in Colombo, Sri Lanka. After three decades as an award-winning chef and restaurateur, Peter has now diversified his career to encompass the roles of TV presenter, author, industry speaker and restaurant consultant.

The Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management is a joint venture between the William Angliss Institute of Australia and Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, and offers internationally recognised qualifications in hospitality management.

Peter Kuruvita’s visit is arranged by the Australian High Commission, and sponsored by travel partner Emirates, hotel partner Cinnamon Lakeside, wine partner Treasury Wines, food partner Prestige Foods, media partner MTV Sports and Dilmah.
